Bach’s Lunch Lecture: “Irish Songs of Emigration"

Bach’s Lunch Lecture: "Irish Songs of Emigration"

Jordan Tirell Wysocki headshotThursday, November 7, 12:10pm - Free and open to the public

Speaker: Jordan Tirrell-Wysocki

Over the last few centuries, millions of Irish people have had to leave their homeland, and their stories live on in powerful songs. Fiddler/singer Jordan Tirrell-Wysocki will explore several of these pieces, while explaining the historical context out of which they came. Some date back to the potato famine, others were written more recently, but all deal with the timeless themes of homesickness, heartache and loss experienced by immigrants everywhere.

. . . . . . .

Much more than Bach, the Bach's Lunch series explores a range of musical topics and genres in informal, free, lunch-hour lectures and concerts the first and second Thursdays of each month, November through June.

Bach's Lunch lectures and concerts are held in the Recital Hall, 23 Wall Street, downtown Concord; they begin at 12:10 and conclude by 12:50 p.m. Bring your lunch - and your friends!

The Bach’s Lunch Series is sponsored by The Timothy and Abigail B. Walker Lecture Fund. For more information, call 603-228-1196.
