Bach's Lunch Lecture: "Improvising Together Across the Continents"

Speakers: Matt Langley and David Surette

Thursday, May 2, 12:10 to 12:50pm. Free and open to the public.

This lecture/demonstration/free-wheeling discussion is inspired by David’s and Matt’s experiences this year in sharing traditional music from America and South Asia with Music School colleagues Hari Adhikari and Prem Sagar Khatiwada. They will provide insights into the process of musical improvisation, from several different viewpoints. Jazz, blues, fiddle tunes, ragas, and free improvisation will all be considered, and common reference points will be used as both signposts and borders. Bring your questions, and open ears and open hearts!

. . . . . . .

Much more than Bach, the Bach's Lunch series explores a range of musical topics and genres in informal, free, lunch-hour lectures and concerts the first and second Thursdays of each month, November through June.

Bach's Lunch lectures and concerts are held in the Recital Hall, 23 Wall Street, downtown Concord; they begin at 12:10 and conclude by 12:50 p.m. Bring your lunch - and your friends!

The Bach’s Lunch Series is sponsored by The Timothy and Abigail B. Walker Lecture Fund and The Engelke Heggie Gratefulness Fund. For more information, call 603-228-1196 or visit www.ccmusicschool.org.
