Speaker: Jim Webber

Thursday, February 7, 12:10 to 12:50pm. Free and open to the public.

Award-winning theater director Jim Webber returns to the Music School stage with his Bach’s Lunch Lecture, “One Song, Many Voices: Interpreting the Great American Songbook.” Standing out from the crowd has always been about confidence, taste, and originality. The great voices of the American Songbook era knew this, even as they created vocal stylings that encapsulated public tastes of their own times. Speaker Jim Webber puts the spotlight on how famous singers put their own individual vocal stamp on the same classic tunes over and over again – with surprising and often memorable results. Discover what makes the “covers” of yesterday stay so fresh in our minds through the years.

. . . . . . .

Much more than Bach, the Bach's Lunch series explores a range of musical topics and genres in informal, free, lunch-hour lectures and concerts the first and second Thursdays of each month, November through June.

Bach's Lunch lectures and concerts are held in the Recital Hall, 23 Wall Street, downtown Concord; they begin at 12:10 and conclude by 12:50 p.m. Bring your lunch - and your friends!

The Bach’s Lunch Series is sponsored by The Timothy and Abigail B. Walker Lecture Fund and The Engelke Heggie Gratefulness Fund. For more information, call 603-228-1196 or visit www.ccmusicschool.org.
