Concord's own Dan Zanes returns to perform at the Music School, Saturday, May 5 -- 10am and 7:30pm!
On Saturday, May 5, join Grammy-Award winner and former Concord native, Dan Zanes, and the celebrated Haitian-American vocalist Claudia Eliaza, and world-renowned illustrator and author (and folk music hero) Donald Saaf for two shows at the Concord Music School. The trio will perform an interactive all-ages family show in the morning (10:00am) featuring music from Dan’s extensive catalog and an evening concert (7:30pm) for the older crowd celebrating the music of Lead Belly, The King of the 12-string Guitar. These concerts will benefit The Friendly Kitchen.
Since 2000, Dan Zanes has been entertaining families around the globe from thrift shop basements to Carnegie Hall, from Brooklyn to Bahrain. He has released over a dozen all-ages CDs, including the Grammy Award-winning "Catch That Train."
Claudia Eliaza has toured worldwide singing jazz music. She recently returned from a 10-city tour of Russia. Claudia is also a Board Certified Music Therapist. In 2017, she and Dan created a Sensory Friendly Comic Folk Opera called "Night Train 57," which premiered at The Kennedy Center in October of 2017.
Donald Saaf is known far and wide as a premier painter and illustrator -- and tenor banjo player. His work is shown in galleries across New England, and he has illustrated more than a dozen children’s books. He sings and plays on all of the Dan Zanes CDs, and has created the artwork that is synonymous with Dan’s music.
The Friendly Kitchen has been feeding the hungry since 1980. This May, Dan and Donald celebrate their 18th year of benefit concerts for The Friendly Kitchen. It’s Claudia’s first time joining the festivities. Bring the family and come join us on May 5th!
