With Dan Faiella
Meets weekly on Tuesdays from 4-5 pm starting January 28.
Join fellow guitar, mandolin, and other fretted instrument players for an intro-intermediate ensemble focused on playing and arranging traditional folk tunes. In a genre in which guitar and mandolin often play supporting roles to the fiddle and other melody instruments, this ensemble will focus on the particular possibilities and capabilities that fretted instruments have in playing traditional tunes. The arrangements we develop will provide an opportunity to play music with others, to learn and to apply practical music theory in a group playing context, and to develop the skills and flexibility required to create an integrated and varied group sound. This class is ideal for all intermediate players of fretted instruments, as well as novice players who have a knowledge of the basics (how to play basic chords and pick simple melodies).
