The moon and romance have long been connected in the popular imagination. On June 8, Music School faculty member Peggo Horstmann Hodes, accompanied by Kent Allyn on piano, bass, and guitar, sings "Moon Songs." The performance will feature songs that take audience members to the moon and back, with selections like “Blue Moon,” “Fly Me to the Moon,” and “Dancin’ in the Moonlight” among others. From corny to romantic, the duo’s songs will include favorite movie songs, jazz ballads, and Van Morrison.

“Musical Migrations” is the theme of this year’s Bach’s Lunch programs, which are an outgrowth of the Music School’s leadership work on the Steering Committee of the Welcoming Concord Initiative. Welcoming Concord began through the statewide efforts of the Endowment for Health’s Immigration Integration Initiative, and is a forum for collective action and shared learning, with the goal of warmly welcoming New Americans into the cultural, economic, and civic life of the region.
